We Adopted a Sloth! Meet Debbie 🦥
May 02, 2025
Hello Friends,
We’ve got some adorable news to share...we’ve virtually adopted a sloth! Meet Deborah (aka Debbie), a gentle two-fingered sloth who lives in a patch of forest near Chimuri Beach, Costa Rica.
Debbie has quickly become a favorite of the research team for her chill personality and habit of hanging out in the same trees (which makes it easy to check in on her 😉). Her home borders a road, so canopy bridges were installed to help her cross safely. In recent news for her..she has become a mom! Debbie had her first baby in March 2025.
Here are a few fun facts about our new sleepy friend:
- Debbie is a two-fingered sloth—a nocturnal species known for their lighter fur, pig-like noses, and fondness for hanging upside down.
- She loves leafy greens, veggies, and fruit, and is especially fond of hibiscus flowers.
Our virtual adoption helps fund food, medical care, and habitat protection for Debbie and her baby; especially as human development edges closer to their forest home.
This is just one way we’re giving back. Our mission isn’t just about coffee—it’s about care. For people, wildlife, and the planet.

Thanks for being part of this wild and wonderful adventure!
